What is a ghost?

like why is it still on earth?shouldnt it be in heaven or...

Unfortunately, while it is fun to think that there are ghosts among us, they simply do not exist.  There is no evidence whatsoever for ghosts and anyone who claims otherwise only wishes that ghosts are real.  The simple fact that no one here can agree on exactly what a ghost is should show that there are no such things as ghosts.  When we have to make up an explanation because we do not know the answers, why believe any of it?

What if I said that all ghost activity was actually the result of a invisible goblin who enjoyed tricking people?  Would you believe in my claim any more than ghosts?  You could not prove me wrong but does that make it right?  No.

I'm not trying to offend anyone, it's simply the way things are.  The sooner we all realize that there is no life after death, the sooner we can all focus on improving conditions for those of us who are alive!

Ghosts are supposed to be the spirits of those who have died. Their spirits haven't seen the light yet, so they are stuck here on earth until it comes again. It is also said they they stay on earth to finish their past business. Interesting question!

after a person's essence goes into the light and returns for whatever reason, it is a spirit.  A ghost is that spirit's essence that has not gone into the light as yet.

Ghosts differ from spirit presence because they retain the ability to manifest in a tangible 'physical' form albeit not in the 3-dimensional sense.

At the point of death, normally under tragic or unusal circumstances the spirit of a person is not fully released from the earth plane and exists in a state of limbo until such time as any unfinished business has been concluded.

The spirit of the person has some emotional binding and needs to reconcile this physical aspect before it is at peace to move on to the spirit realm.

in my opinion, ghosts are souls that are left behind because of a tragic unexplained event.  For example, a little girl who was murdered, or a house in which several murders occured, or anywhere somethin tragic happened. The soul stays behind to haunt people that pass through

The souls of departed humans do not stick around haunting... and they do not come back for visits.... what are seen as "ghosts" are infact manifestations of the forces of evil... those forces can mimic departed souls... as the forces of evil know all about every one... they can be very convincing...and very dangerous.... if you see a "ghost" go in the other direction...very fast... there is no such thing as a "friendly ghost"

The answer is that ghosts are just a figment of imagination.  There is no such thing as "ghosts".  Ghosts only exist in movies, books and on TV.

It could be that they don't know that they are dead or they don't know how to get in heaven. Maybe they want to haunt people because they are angry about their bad life.

I think ghost are murdered people , so they mostly appear on the spot where they died, also they appear because of revenge!
