What is a globular protein?

  1. A globulin. A more or less spherical shape protein.


  2. it's a more or less blobby looking protein (as opposed to a stringy looking protein).

    The reason they are shaped the way they are is due to the electrical bonds it forms with other parts of itself...it's called the tertiary structure which is how the protein is folded and is usually the most stable form it rests in.

  3. A generally spherical, soluble protein, as opposed to the fibrous proteins which are generally long and insoluble.

    Both are rather broad terms with little real meaning.
