What is a good, but not well-known anime?

I am hosting a cosplay party and want to show a good anime, but not one everyone has already seen. (aka not a Miyazaki). Any suggestions are helpful. Thanks!

personally, I liked Eureka Seven. I don't think many people have seen it, or possibly liked it lol.

Well, nowadays the older anime series are usually left unwatched and unheard of my newbie fans, and even some hard-core fans. This usually happens because people simply don't like to watch 'old' things.

I suggest the older CLAMP series, like Magic Knight Rayearth, RG Veda, and X/1999. Maison Ikkoku by Takahashi Rumiko (the woman who wrote Inuyasha and Ranma) and Dr. Slump by Toriyama Akira (creator of the Dragonball series) are other ones. I also recommend Demon Child Zenki.

For newer series, try The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Azumanga Daioh, Desert Punk, and Vampire Knight. Wikipedia and hundreds of anime fan sites can give you other suggestions as well as reference images.

Ushio & Tora is one that is hard to find and get nowadays.

But if you liked Tenchi, Ranma, and InuYasha, there's no

reason not to like this one as well.

A young man discovers that his dad's stories of a monster

trapped in their cellar is true. Unfortunately, he is forced

to release this monster in order to stop a mass of smaller

spirits from attacking his village (and the two young ladies

he cares for). Fortunately, he has a magical weapon that

allows him to control the beast -- as long as this weapon

never strays more than 3 feet from his hands. If it does, the

monster has vowed to eat him.

There were only ten episodes made, but each one is a gem.
