I was looking at some Linksys's and D-Link routers. I have previously owned a Linksys and it worked pretty well, never had a D-Link though. I want a one thats affordable (under $50), but one that works well too. Also, where is a good place to get a router for cheap?

  1. I have set up several Linksys and Netgear networks and I would go Linksys WRT54 series which is what is a "G" band and is less expensive than an "N" band. Unless you intend to send large files or play games between the 2 computers the N band won't be any better than the older g band.  . You don't need an  N band for the internet because the speed on the internet is slower than even the g band.

The problem with Netgear is if you have a problem with it after 90 days all they will do is run a test say it is/isn't  broken and will not answer any questions unless you want to pay them. Linksys has good customer service!!

  2. well at best buy a D-link is around $40. i have one and it runs smoothly. it also gives u something called network magic which helps to block others from using ur internet and gives u security alerts as well. im very pleased with my d-link.

  3. Netgear wireless g.40$ or less.ive recomended it to numerous friends and family members.it has not failed

any of them...and it looks cool

  5. Linksys is the best option.  They actually carry this brand at Wal-Mart.  Their prices are a little cheaper than Best Buy or Circuit City.  I would definitely check at Wal-Mart first.  That is where I bought mine.

  6. You can get a good router or you can get a cheap router. You're not going to fine one that's both.

I like Linksys much better than D-Link and have used several models of both. But you're not going to find a high-quality Linksys for $50 unless you happen to come across a used one or shop on eBay.

Lots of discount stores sell both Linksys and D-Link so do some searches on NexTag, BizRate, and Amazon.
