Question:

What is a good, quality book that I can read after Breaking Dawn?

Breaking Dawn totally deviated from the first three Twilight books! I love those books and always will but BD was awful. Total lack of character development, the characters don't even seem the same!! The style of writing also changed significantly, as if SM didn't even write it herself!! I wanted to like it and tried to like it, but I just can't. Is there a good book, by a mature and decent writer that will help get me out of this funk? I feel like I need my brain to be washed after reading BD!!

  1. Ugh, I know exactly how you feel. Breaking Dawn was horrible, especially compared to the first 3 books!

Anyway, this question is hard to answer because you didn't give us your age or some books that you read and enjoyed (besides Twilight), but here are some books/series that I like. (I'm 14 by the way)

The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner (There are also the sequels to this book, The Queen of Attolia and The Kind of Attolia. They aren't as good as The Thief in my opinion, but still worth a read)

    Harry Potter by J.K.Rowling

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld (also the sequels Pretties and Specials. There is also Extras, but that's another example of a 4th book not being anywhere near as good as the first three.)

Midnighters by Scott Westerfeld(and its sequels)

Ranger's Apprentice series by John Flanagan

Fearless series (I can't remember the author on this one. Its a really good series though)

  2. Try these!

The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Neffenigger

    Last Chance by Sarah Dessen

Gods Behaving Badly by Marie Phillips

Innocent Traitor by Alison Weir......and her other books

    Eragon series

Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz

The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind starts with Wizards First Rule

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King starts with The Gunslinger

    All the Harry Potter books

  3. The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield, this is an excellent break from anything, it's one of the best books I've ever read, and it's written so well, really captures you. Excellent story, but i can't tell you anything because that'll give away something.

I finished Breaking Dawn, (i thought  it was excellent) and just for kicks, and summer book reports, I'm re-reading Twilight, and it's mind-boggling re-reading it, amazing!

  4. Any other book would be fine

    but here are my recommendations:

Cirque du Freak -good vampire saga that has a MUCH better ending that the Twilight series.

The Princess Bride by Goldman - awesome and exciting story

    The Little Princess by Burnett

    The Secret Garden by Burnett

His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman

  5. Read anything by Nicholas Sparks.

Gemma Doyle Trilogy by Libba Bray

Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz

  6. Oh, good. You've seen the light.

Here's a really good book: A Clockwork Orange

    and these:

    A Tale of two Cities

    The Kite Runner

Fight Club (This writer is not my cup of tea, but I do admit this book is decent)

    Frankenstein (By Mary Shelly)

    Brave New World

    1984

    The Handmaid's Tale

The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test

    Of Mice and Men

    The Grapes of Wrath

    Hope that helps!

  7. Try reading actual literature next time.

There is a plethora of books. You just have to find something well written that suits your interests. What is your age group?

I'm currently reading the Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde which is an excellent book. Others I thought were well done:
