  1. I haven't tried this but it uses Motorola walkies for bike to bike communication and looks like it has potential.

  2. I can't accurately answer your question, but I have been wanting to experiement using the FRS walkie talkies with a mono earphone for bike to bike communications.  Even if not everyone in a group is set up with a mike to talk, everyone in a large group can hear the leader or sweep rider.

They are inexpensive and you can get them at an Walmart.  You might have to go online or to Radio Shack to get a headset.

  3. chatterbox is a good company

  4. I could give you a lengthy answer on this as I have some extensive experience on this subject. There are some Bluetooth systems on the market but beware as they are not all that they are cracked up to be. A Google search will reveal lots of units but I can seriously recommend that you take a look at the StarCom system. http://www.starcom1.com

It is a full blown intercom system that you can use with personal radios for real bike to bike plus much more. If it has too many features for what you want then there is a system called Interphone but I honestly believe the StarCom to be worth the extra for all that it does and one wire is a small price to pay for the benefits over the restrictive Bluetooth.
