What is a good, small dogs that doesn't bark ALL the time??

i really want a small dog that is quiet and well behaved!

My Shih Tzus are very good small dogs, very loyal and very sweet. And they only bark if they think someone is intruding *lol*

I have a pug, Who is wonderful. Pugs tend to have very tame personalities. They were bred to be companion dogs, mine hardly ever makes a noise. They can grow to be 20+ lbs if they are not exercised and fed a proper diet but they can range from a healthy 12-20 lbs depending on the pug. They are playful and loving. They can be the kind of dog who you can dress and carry around or the kind of dog you can run around and play with. If you work at it the can be highly trained. They do need lots of exercise and attention. if you don't have the time, I wouldn't suggest a pug but if you have the energy and want a great companion a Pug's your dog.

The best thing to do would be go to the animal shelter. Observe behavior as you walk through. Most dogs will bark for attention. If you notice one that is wagging their tail and obviously glad to see you but not being very vocal, then you may have just found your dog. There really is no way of knowing per breed because all dogs are different. My mom has two Min Pins, one barks like crazy and the other is quite.

Boston Terriers!!! They are so cute and they are the most lovable and cuddly dogs. My Boston Terrier is very smart and he only barks when there is something to bark about. Female dogs are usually calmer than male dogs but I love my dog. It's good to do your research here for other people's opinion but you should read further for more research on each breed to find one with characteristics you like.

Cavalier king Charles Spaniel. They are mostly couch potatoes that hardly ever bark. They are seen and not heard.

A well trained one!

My friend has a chihuahua and a jack russell and they are the quietest most well behaved dogs I have never met.

Sure, it takes a lot of time and commitment, but it is so worth it.

my shih tzu never barks, i've only heard him bark when he was playing, and when he thought there was a stranger in my house, but it was my dad lol, at least he was protecting me. they are great dogs :)

All dogs bark. Seriously, I wonder how many dogs sit there thinking: "Where can I find a person that isn't always yapping all the time and is quiet and well-behaved"

It is how they communicate just like you talk to communicate and you can't honestly expect it not to do it.

They are well-behaved because you train them to be well-behaved. If you are expecting one that will walk in with no patience-testing problems then I  really think you are going to wake up one morning asking yourself how you could possibly have been so naive!!!

Love my shih tzu to death and he is a wonderful little guy but lets face it: HE BARKS!! He barks at dogs (in life and on TV) and he barks at noises and he barks at EVERYTHING!
