What is a good 4x4 truck or SUV in a high schools Budget?

Right now i am 15 and i will be turning 16 in a month so i am starting drivers ed next week by the end of the summer i plan to have 3000$ saved up towards my first car. Through the research i have done a have found a dealership selling older model dodges/fords ex 1999-2001 with high miles 100k roughly but i know trucks last a long time and can run for many more miles if taken care of, i will only need to get 10-15k miles and 3 years of use out of this truck.

In any model truck you name a 4x4 will get much worse gas mileage than a 4x2, which doesn't get that great a gas mileage. Why do you think the dealers have all those old trucks for sale? No one wants them, because they're basically gas hogs, that's why.

Why do you need a 4x4? Get a normal fuel efficient car & save yourself some fuel costs!
