What is a good 5.1 surround sound system?

I was reviewing the Bose 3-2-1 system, but all i read is negitive reviews by angry customers. Can anybody recommend a good surround sound system that can be purchased for under $1500 that has amazing sound quality? This will be hooked up to my HDTV, often used to play music, and sometimes video games.
