you can purchase a H/T speaker package that starts around 250-300, like fluance.

You need a "Home Theatre in a Box" (HTIB) system. See the link for ratings of a range of systems ... a good place to start looking.  If possible avoid systems with built in DVD players ... they sound like a good idea but they usually have poor expandability and when the DVD player section fails (and it will) you can't replace it.

Forget Bose .. overpriced, mediocre equipment. You can ALWAYS do better for the money.
