("Air Force Specialty Code" AKA: Enlisted Job)that will not require me to be on deployments too often. I know they say it's usually every 18-24 months, but I've seen Airmen being deployed 4 months every 12 months. I turned down the Navy because they are at sea so long. I know Boot camp,AIT, and deployments are requirements. But after basic and AIT, in a 4 year contract, I was only hoping to do 1 or 2 deployments at best while I get used to the Military lifestyle.

Any personal expierance would be best =)

  1. Most AF deployments are currently 4 months.  Many are changing soon to 6 months.  3P0X1 is a BAD choice for you (also DO NOT go open general)....  We deploy for 6 months, do about a month and a half of training before we leave (so math here, 1.5+6=7.5 months), come home minimum 6 months (waiverable) but training for next deployment doesn't count....so Cops (3P0X1) are only home about 4 months every 12 months if they are in a high-tempo squadron like mine.  And AIT is an Army term - in the AF it's Tech School...

I know 3C0X1s deploy quite a bit, and 3S0X1 does as well...  Medical fields, 4N... tend to deploy as we need medical folks...  Services is needed quite a bit, as are maintenance folks....

So, basically that doesn't leave too much, sorry to say...life is tough right now in all the branches.  Although, if you want to be SAFE when you do get tasked...go 3S or 3C...  There are TONS of other jobs out there, but it's all up to you!

  2. Korean Linguist

  3. Become a C-130 loadmaster and be chauffeured around by two college graduates from bar to bar... Let's not forget the hot ladies at the air shows. And the hotels... Aircrews only stay at the best!

It's also one of the only jobs where enlisted make more money than other AFSCs.
