What is a good American gas saver car?

I am opposed to buying foreign cars and need a gass saver car to go along with my truck.

Ford and chevy have smaller cars that get great gas mileage like a focus.

I drove a Chevy Aveo as a rental this week.  While the styling is very economical (nice way to put it) it gets like 35 MPG.

It is also fairly roomy and I was able to take a box of furniture and 3 people home from Ikea in it, despite it's small appearance.

The Pontiac Vibe and Chevy Aveo are the two most fuel efficient American branded cars out there.

I am opposed  to american cars but if you MUST get one get the chevrolet aveo(Daewoo Kalos)as it is built in south korea.

Hyundai Elantra's are built in the USA.  The four cylinder model gets about 32mpg and carries four people in reasonable comfort.  The Ford Focus also has a good reliability record and gets mileage in the low 30's.  Chevy Cobalt and Dodge Neon appear to have reilability issues.

I agree with your  mindset.  Keep Americans employed.
