  1. I am working with my sons earth club on a similar project. Basically everything you need for school can be made from a sustainable source. I found the Office Max and Target had the best selection and Walmart was a close 3rd. Other office stores seemed to have little or no selection.

Terra cycle has a great recycled line, which can be found at Office Max. They have binders, pens, pencils, markers and mechanical pencils made from recycled content. They also make things like pencil pouches from drink pouches.

Office Max also has several of their brand that is made from recycled content. Look for copy paper, file folders and Polyproplene binders which are recycled and biodegradable. You can also find pencils that are FSC certified, meaning the wood was sustainably harvested.

Target has a couple lines one is greenroom eco which has colorful binders, dividers, folders and a variety of other items made from recycled content.

There are several backpacks made from recycled materials as well, you can find them at www.ebags.com. Keen, Patagonia and Mountainsmith are a few brands.

Of course the greenest thing you can do is to use what you already have. I always suggest collecting all the school and office supplies in a central location so you only need to buy what you don't have.

Don't forget items used in the classroom like paper towels, tissue and copy paper.

  2. Well, right now at Target, there is a sale on eco friendly binders, paper, pencils, ect.  It is all in their weekly flier in the Sunday paper.  I hope that helps you!  Good luck  :)

  3. well i went to office works earlier in the year and this is the only place i have seen them but they had like rulers and note books that say like i was an old tire or i am recycled paper they were pretty inexpensive and it was cool to have supplies recycled from tires that usually go to waste

  4. try that new product they have in lots of stores.

the notebooks and everything are made of sugarcane.

    it saves trees.

i know they sell the brand in staples.

  5. Nice, you seem to have the idea- so here is a list of what you should avoid:

    -gas-powered calculator

    -asbestos pencils

    -The A/C Sombrero™

    -rocket skates

    -t-shirt that leaks battery acid

-anything Jonas Brothers (imagine what our landfills will look like once this fad ends!)
