  1. It all depends on what you are looking for: simple navigation getting you from point a to point b, live traffic updates, mp3 player, bluetooth capable, multi point entry, voice recognition, etc...theres a ton of features that can make your purchase range from low $100 to $700-800.

I personally think Garmin is by far the best. It has the best route calculations to find the most efficient and accurate route in comparison to TomTom and Magellan.

If you want just a simple navigation go with the Garmin Nuvi 200

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000NVZ...

On that webpage there is a chart with all the Nuvi models and their capabilities so if you want additional features you can find the model you want. Also check out the customer reviews most of them have 4.5 out of 5 stars!!!

  2. I agree that the TomTom ONE 3rd Edition is a good option. TomTom recently came out with the ONE 130S, which is the one I recommend. It is similar to the ONE 3rd Edition, but has the text to speech feature, Map Share and the Easyport mount. Text to speech is a great option to have on a GPS, I personally love the spoken street names.

  3. i have a tomtom one 3rd edition, and it works great. No monthly fee's, and it's ready to use out of the box. Cost of around $190.00

  4. sextant, and compass
