What is a good Oat replacement when you dont have enough oats (Making Pear Crisp pie )?

We dont have enough oats to make the pie ( It calls for 2 cups we have 1 )

What is a good oat replacement??

  1. Do you have some breakfast cereal like Cheerios to combine with the oats?


  2. Nuts

    Wheat Germ

    Oat Bran

    Flax Seed

    Crushed cookie crumbs

    Crushed cereal like Corn Flakes or Special K or Kashi

  3. One cup is plenty, combine with flour, sugar and butter to make crumbs.  

  4. corn flakes, or just up the flour butter mixture and crumble it over the pie

  5. The cereal idea is a really great one. (I have made crisps using ONLY cereal) You can also substitute flour directly but you may want to add a tad more rising agent and a tad more liquid.

    Ground nuts could also be used to replace some of the oats.
