For example, what RPM should i go to go from 30mph to 70mph most efficiently?

  1. RPM's increase as your speed increases, so there is no easy way to answer this question. Now if you’re really asking how quickly should you accelerate the smoother the better. Meaning an increase of about 500 rpm every second or so should still net you a good mileage out of your engine. What is more important is how many RPM's your motor is turning while running down the freeway. The lower your RPM's the more fuel your saving. If possible you want to keep your rpm's down around 1500 to 2000. Of course this also means only traveling around 55 to 65 MPH. but we are out to save gas right? Not win a race. Also when you’re in the city you want to accelerate slowly from stop lights. This will also help save you some fuel  


  2. It will vary depending on gear ratio and how long you want to wait to shift. The lower you keep RPM the less gas waisted. But dont take a mile to get up to speed. High gear gives best MPG.
