  1. i am 18 and own a 1998 ford explorer xlt with the EFI V6. I love it, its safe, fits 5 people and a huge trunk. Absolutley amazing in the snow and not to to bad on gas. Also very reliable, mine has 149000 miles and rund like new. No major problems. It was my dads and he gave it to me. He said its also good becuase i really can't go that fast and kill myself. Had it for two years now and love it.

  2. go for the ford exploder and if u get it change the cylinders change them

  3. I have had 3 s-10 blazers  all were bought used for 3 & 4K each..good little suv`s  ..I recently bought a  4 door 98  good cond. 123K miles it is almost perfect. 3200$ ,, in town 15 mpg hiway 25. they look good alll white. the two door models are cheaper not to say the ford is not good but S-10 is better looking.. especialy all white. no striping.  HAS AIR BAGS AND DISK BRAKES

  4. SUVs are not a good vehicle for young drivers IMHO. Most of them have a higher center of gravity, which is why we hear stories about these vehicles rolling over -- most people drive them like cars, which they are not. They are trucks.

If you've been driving a pickup truck, go ahead and get an SUV, Otherwise, you'd be wise to stick with cars for many reasons, especially when it comes to insurance costs,

  5. Can a 17-18 year old even afford the gas an SUV uses?  And if you plan on spending that little on an SUV you are not going to get one in that great of shape.

  6. The 2008-2009 Dodge Nitro

  7. My boyfriend has a Ford Escape.  It's pretty cool and not so bad on gas like the bigger size SUV's.

  8. None. Unless you get an escape or rav4 or some other crossover, but most of those obviously aren't old enough to be around 1000-5000, and it looks like you want a traditional SUV anyway. Most all SUV's in this price range are at least 10 years old, which equals three things: dangerously bad drum brakes, no ESC and rollovers, and no airbags, as they were not required in "light trucks" (AKA all SUV's of the period) until 1998. Look up the crash stats on the 90's SUV's like Blazers, Durangoes, and Explorers. The 1997 Blazer had a 50% chance of a deathly head injury in a crash, while 1999 Durangoes had an 18% chance of mortal head injury and 20% chance of a chest injury. Of course the Explorer had the Firestone controversy (but the tires weren't all at fault: the trucks' safety problems were aggravated by the tires). By comparison, a Ford Windstar minivan had numbers closer to 2% for these types of injuries.

Besides, the more important thing is that you're a young, inexperienced driver who will not only risk yourself but others by driving a heavy, hard to maneuver vehicle that probably won't be all that fun to drive.

  9. stick to a ten-speed bike.

    wear a helmet too.

    and get it registered

    and lock it

AND KEEP IT INDOORS AT NIGHT!!!

    thanks. :>
