Just learned how to ride. Less than 4 hours of experience over the last 15 years.

I'm 6 feet 2 inches. I weight 213 pounds.

I do not want a crotch rocket.

  1. a good bike for a rokie is some thing that fites you well and has anof power to take you around.

  2. i have a suzuki dr200 that I learned to ride on, pretty much a street legal dirtbike, it is awesome on the road and in the dirt so you get the best of both worlds. they make it in a 400 and 600 model which i think either of those 2 would be good for you. the 200 is a bit short and slow. good luck!

  3. Gs500 all the way.  Get a used one for a lot less.  At your height you MIGHT find it a little cramped, but you can substitute some thinner pegs and/or add some foam to the seat to get you the space you need.

The GS500 has good power for the highway but not enough to be a menace.    Great in the corners.    Mine is a '93, they have been making this bike since '89.   Proven design, easy to maintain, plenty of support.

The new ones do have full fairings, but the pre-04 GS500E's are naked.   The riding position is standard upright, not like a crotch rocket.   Check it out on the Suzuki site.

  4. I have a Suzuki intruder 800 for my first bike, I am 5'9" and weigh 180 lbs. An intruder is a very nice bike, not big enough to get into trouble but enough to get you where you need to go.

  5. No such thing as  a good  Suzuki
