I'm a 3rd year college student pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science. I'm also in the process of learning Mandarin and Spanish. I feel comfortable about my odds of getting into and getting through OCS. What would be a good choice if I wanted to go into a Special Agent position later on? I hear intelligence is a good choice.

  1. First off, "MOS" Is a term used by the Army and the Marine Corps to classify their jobs. The Air Force calls their jobs AFSC(Air Force Specialty Code).

Not to sound rude but you HAVE to have that right or you will p**s alot of Airmen off.

If you are already 3 years in, I would reccomend go for the Department of Homeland Security. DHS.gov is their official website. If you join them for a few years and then get your Bachelors in Criminal Justice,  then you should bet set. But you will need TONS of expierance, plus a bunch of Criminal Justice degrees. Your Bachelor in Computer Science will be useless compared to the Criminal Justice degree. A Masters in Criminal Justice, plus 5-10 years with the DHS will set you on the right track. Military Police is really no different than regular law enforcement.

  2. Go to DLI and learn Chinese or Farsi. Not only is that a good choice for later application to the FBI...it's probably the best.

  3. You can try to apply to the FBI with any AFSC but Intel would be an excellent choice.  Basically, any AFSC where you get a Top Secret (or higher--yes, there is higher)  clearance would be good.  Intelligence is very competitive so be prepared with a few choices.
