I have a DSL connection and the speed is 100 Mbps. I have a router connecting the two right now but when I sign in to Xbox live I can't play any games all I can do is see my friends online. I would like to know what is the best WIRED router to connect both my computer and Xbox 360. Any help will be appreciated.

  1. They are all the same - get the one that;s on sale.

  2. here is a link of approved routers

if they do not work - i guess you can return the router with good reason and proof

    http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connec...

note - its not only the model but also the version or firmware

firmware can be upgraded with instructions on the website

versions are the made version and cannot be changed

    pay attention to both

an amazing amount of d-link seem to be on the list - do not know why

    watch the versions number though

they will be on the box - a v marking after the model

  3. I like my D-Link Rouer.

    An important consideration:

Have your determined if DSL is fast enough to play Xbox Live online? ...

The 100 Mbps is between your router and your Xbox.

However, DSL does not always maintain very high connectivity, from the ISP and the internet connection > the more othe users on ISP (such as Sunday afternoon), then the less speed you will experience between your modem and the internet.

Check the manual or online to discover what connection speed is required.

  4. Any decent router should work.  If you already have a router, it's almost certainly a configuration problem, not a router problem.

BTW, you do NOT have a 100 Mbps DSL connection.  DSL doesn't go anywhere near that fast.  Your router, Xbox, and computer might have 100 Mbps connections, but the incoming DSL is probably about 1.5, if you are on a GOOD DSL line.  Maximum would be in the 3 mbps range.

  5. Many wireless routers can also be used wired--you go into the preferences for the router and lock off the wireless features.

    I use something like this:

    http://www-uk.linksys.com/servlet/Satell...

Their website also had wired routers, but I haven't used them.

  6. I think what you are really asking is how can you go on-line with your friends.

What you have is a silver account.  You need to upgrade to gold to play your friends on-line.

100Mbs is your port speed.  DSL is much slower, generally around 768kbs down.  It is a dedicated line, it won't slow down as more users get on.   (The other poster is thinking of cable)  Almost every router, hub, and switch is supported by the Xbox.  I'd go with the cheapest.  If your going wireless make sure you have the wireless adapter and a wireless router/access point.  I use a WRT54GL, it is both wired and wireless.
