  1. All of the AVCHD and MOD or TOD camcorders use this ability exclusively.

If you are going to spend that amount of money, you are better off getting a camcorder that records to HDV.  Your editing program is already built for dv tape and will easily capture through Firewire.

  2. canon bp-511 . i have one for one years and can transer videos to a computer.

  3. Sony HDR-SR11

here a link for it so you can look at it

  4. The new camcorders that have a handle - of which I am aware are:

    In your price range:

    Canon GL2 (standard definition only)

    Sony HVR-HD1000U (HiDef and SD)

    Outside your price range

    Sony DCR-VX2100 (standard definition only)

Panasonic DVX100 series (standard definition only)

    Sony HDR-FX1, FX7, HVR-V1U, Z1U  (HiDef and SD)

    Canon XHA1 (HiDef and SD)

Panasonic HVX series (HiDef and SD)

There are others... but this is a good short list to start from...

NONE use USB to transfer video. Prosumer and pro-grade camcorders do not use anemic MPEG2 or AVCHD onto hard drive or flash memory based camcorders. They capture DV and HDV to miniDV tape.

The only exceptions worth noting are any camcorder from Red and the Panasonic HVX200 series that records to DV/HDV to P2 cards.
