What is a good acoustic-electric guitar?

I have a cheap yamaha acoustic and I want to start playing more acoustic songs so i want to upgrade to an acoustic-electric. I want something that sounds nice and is comfortable to play but wont break the bank. I'm looking to pay about $300. Please give some suggestions.

There are dozens to choose from, but if you like your Yamaha (and I love them) have you considered making it electric?  There are simple kits to make that happen.

Otherwise, the only thing I would say is to NOT BUY A FENDER!!!  Their electric guitars are great (I have two) but their acoustic and acoustic/electric are c**p.

Also, why not just put a microphone on your guitar?
