  1. Get a copy of the ROss Reports. They have listings of hundreds of agencies in the Los Angeles area. If you want to do extra work, sign up with Central Casting.

  2. try john robert powers

  3. If you live in this area and you're asking this question you are not ready for an agent.  Throw a rock in LA and you'll hit an agent.  And John Robert Powers is a huge ripoff!

You can do work as an extra to see how things work on a set, but not as a way to get principal acting work.  And NEVER put that on a resume.  Central Casting is where you go if you are over 18.

As for getting legit roles, you need to get into classes and build a resume.  Get into theatre and audition for student and indie films.  backstage.com and actorsaccess.com are your best resources.  An account needs to be set up, have your parents do this because you should not be putting your info out on the web.  You should also seek their permission before sending your headshot in for auditions to make sure you both agree that the project is something you are all comfortable with you working on.

You should know that even student and indie films roles are competitive so getting into classes is key to preparing.  You need to know what the heck you're doing.

Before using any business, check them out with the BBB

As for getting an agent, you really need to do some work first.  Get training, build your resume, and do a lot of networking along the way.  Make friends in your classes and on every set you work on.  Ask who their agents are and maintain contact.  When you are ready ask for referrals to their agents but if you do it too soon you'll waste your shot.  Make sure you're ready.

Ross Reports is a good resourse, as is SAG http://www.sag.org/node/667 but you're just not ready yet.

    good luck,
