  1. These are the softess sugar cookies you will ever have.

    1 cup shortening

    1 cup sugar

    1egg

    little salt  mix till creamy.

    1/4 cup sour cream

1/2 tsp. soda mix in mixture

2 1/2 cups flour chill for 1/2 hour. roll and cut. bake 350 for 10-12 min.

you can frost if you wish to after they have been cooled.

  2. SOFT SUGAR COOKIES

    Step One:

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    2 cups sugar

    3 eggs

    1 cup buttermilk

Combine above ingredients well and set aside.

    Step Two:

    6 1/2 cups flour

    1 teaspoon salt

    1 teaspoon baking powder

In a separate bowl, combine above ingredients well, then mix both sets of ingredients together well and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 400°F when ready to bake. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet and bake until edges are lightly golden brown (this depends on the size and thickness of the cookies being baked). Average sized cookies will take 10-12 minutes. Watch carefully and do not over-bake

  3. I tried LOTS of recipes for sugar cookies before I found this one.  It's perfect!  The cookies are chewy and moist.  I love them.

    Chewy Sugar Cookies

    1 ¼ c. butter

    2 c. sugar

    2 eggs

    2 t. vanilla

    ½ t. salt

    1 t. baking soda

    2 ¾ c. flour

    ¼ c. sugar for decoration

Preheat oven to 350°.  In a large bowl, cream together butter and 2 cups sugar until light and fluffy.  Beat in the eggs one at a time, then the vanilla.  Gradually stir in the dry ingredients until just blended.  Roll the dough into walnut sized balls and roll the balls in the remaining ¼ cup of sugar.  Place cookies 2" apart onto ungreased cookie sheets and flatten slightly.

Bake for 8-10 minutes, until lightly browned at the edges.  Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.

  4. chewy sugar cookies

    2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    1/2 teaspoon baking powder

    1 cup softened butter

    1 1/2 cups white sugar

    1 egg

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    3 to 4 tablespoons buttermilk

Sprinkles or colored sugar, for decorating

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.

In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in dry ingredients. Add enough of the buttermilk to moisten the dough and make it soft, not wet.

Roll rounded teaspoons of dough into balls and place on a ungreased cookie sheet. With a brush or fingers, moisten the top of each cookie with the remaining buttermilk and slightly flatten the top of each cookie. Sprinkle with raw sugar or colored sprinkles.

Bake for 8 to 10 minutes or until slightly golden. Let stand for 2 minutes before removing to cool on a rack
