  1. Good question!

Though it can mean many things to many people, I would suggest that it means:

A citizen of a country, where that person enjoys the rights and responsibilities of the country and affirms to uphold its rules and fight for the nation.

As the debate in the US is raging about citizens and illegals, there are important factors to think about.

Becoming a citizen is not just moving to a place but becoming one of the people of the nation. Yes, you may still have habits, customs and language from your old country the rule is to adopt the ones of your new home.

For myself..... I moved from the USA to Israel. Not only did I need to swear my allegence to my new home to uphold the laws and to fight for my country I also made a formal conversion to Judaism to partake in the customs of my home.

For me that meant learning a new language, yes English is spoken here, but the language is Hebrew. I had to become more aware of how the religious practices affected my daily life. New ways of cooking and a very different culture with very different habits.

Even now I am asked.... by both sides of the pond "what I am" most people assume incorrectly that I will say American-Israeli...or maybe Texan-Israeli.. I would never dream of it! While I owe much to the US, my home, my country is Israel. I am Israeli!

Ok I do still fly the texas flag at the house.... but come on.... it's Texas!  You can take the girl out of Texas, but you can never take Texas out of the girl!

  2. I like to focus on global citizenship.  Let's face it.  We're all on one planet.

Being a good global citizen has to do with how we use our energy-where and how we spend our money, how we think and speak and act, and how we spend our time. Have a vision for healing the world and a sense of where you fit into manifesting that vision. And do not hesitate to take action in the direction of that dream. If you haven't already, consider choosing a cause that is in alignment with your vision of a peaceful future and support that cause with any or all of the tools you have-time, money, speech, action.
