What is a good anti-depressant?

ok, so i dont want to go see a doctor or anyone as i will just play it down. but i am depressed and i gotta do sumthing bout it. i live in the uk. what are the best "happy pills" i can get without a prescription? serious answers please. thank you

  1. it depends on ones preference..the safest(fewest side effects) is probly under the SSRI..however it causes a drop in libido..the others are MAOi and TCA..MAOi prohbts one in taking tyramine rich foods (red wine, aged cheese, avocados, etc) TCA on the other hand causes drowsiness..i dont know if there are ny OC drugs


  2. try st johns wort - it is available in chemists or health food stores and is proven to work.  

  3. best thing to do is speak to a doctor, and if thats hard for you, try writing down what you want to say to them before you go in, or just giving them the letter to read.

    The best antidepressant will depend on how severe the depression is and of what type. Im currently on fluoxetine, which has helped, but ultimately you have to work on the negative feelings your having, and try to work on ways to change them.

    Try looking up cognitive behavioral therapy- its a method of changing how you think, and ultimately it could help with a variety of problems.
