  1. Stick with Rogers and Hammerstein so that the style is correct - West Side Story and The Music Man are not really at all similar, particularly WSS.  One of Nellie's songs from South Pacific, maybe one of Julie's from Carousel or if you pick it carefully, one of Laurey's from Oklahoma (although they're generally a bit higher than Maria is required to sing)

  2. you should sing either "goodnight my someone" or "my white knight" from the Music Man. the range is perfect and the characters are very alike. or "i feel pretty" from west side story isnt a bad choice either. whatever you sing though, CHOOSE A SHOWTUNE!!!! thats a very big mistake a lot of people make is when they don't sing a song from a musical.

  3. How about - "I must have done something good"?  Anyone can belt out "Sound of Music" or "My Favorite Things".

This is a quiet song and so you can showcase your diction, acting, and simply stand out as you're not singing one of the others.

  4. Something from another Rodgers & Hammerstein musical.

"Whistle A Happy Tune" from The King & I would be perfect.

    EDIT:

Maddi..'s suggested songs are all high soprano and not in the style of what you're auditioning for.  Maria is a mezzo, and The Music Man & West Side Story could not be more different stylistically from The Sound of Music.

  5. goodnight my someone from the music man

a cockeyed optimist from south pacific

anything maria sings from west side story
