If you are running the disk for access, have the network devices active and using the CD/DVD drive access, you will be doing good with it lasting much over an hour.  By turning off the network devices, and doing nothing more than watching a movie or playing a CD/DVD with music, it can easily last over three hours.  Most makers have larger battery packs that can be purchased for extended life.  Doing things with note taking and having a strict power setting on the screen and disk access, you can get through most of a day in classes or several hours of a meeting.
