What is a good birthday gift for my mom who is turning 49?

well I am uniquely qualified to answer this because of my status as a mom in the age range you are looking at...

but I do know that things I might think are amazing my best friends might not even care about, so I can't say for sure what your actual mother might like.

But I do know that flowers are really good, if you gave her a hanging basket of flowers for the porch, or a plant she could have inside that would be great.  You could buy a pot or planter that  is cute, and plant the flowers in it yourself.

bake her a cake and decorate it with her favorite candy (dark chocolate raspberry ghiradelli squares...yum)

framed photo of the two of you together

bubble bath and a rubber ducky, if she likes to take baths

You can go to the store, and in the framing dept. they have collage frames, they are the ones with the many openings.  Some have the same openings some have different sized openings. You can get one of them and put pictures of you and your mom in there through the years, leaving 2 of the spaces blank, one to write Happy Birthday and the date, and one to take a picture on her b'day and put that picture in there when it's printed out/developed.  She will LOVE this because it's like her own scrapbook for the wall, to look at whenever she wants.  It's pictures of you and her through the years.  You can even put pictures of her and her family in there, through the years.   You can get these frames in Kohl's, Michael's, Walmart, anywhere!

You can also get a nice frame with a picture of the two of you in it.

Take her out, that's going to mean SO much more to her than anything you buy her.  She would much rather spend the time with you.  Take her out to breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc, whatever, even to a movie and lunch, etc.  She will LOVE going out and spending time with you!

You can also get her, her favorite perfume and lotions, etc.

Think about what she likes, what she does in her spare time, etc.  Does she collect anything?  Does she have a hobby?  If so, you can get her something to add to her collection or something for her hobby or a gift card for the store she shops in for her hobby.

Basket of her favorite things.

If she likes to garden, you can get her something for the garden, some flowers, herbs, trees, etc.  Even some gardening tools.

If she likes to cook, get her some new cooking gadgets, etc.

If there's something she really likes like coffee, you can put together a coffee basket of different coffees and a mug, etc.

You can get her car washed, waxed, and detailed.

If she commutes to and from work, you can get her a gas card.
