  1. PS3 is the best blu-ray player, but I would suggest to get the dual format player by samsung simply because it allows you to watch HD DVD's as well as Blu-Ray. If there's no movies on HD DVD you want then by all means get a PS3.

  2. PS3 is by far the best. You get the CELL Processor, gaming system, internet browser, the ability to hook up a keyboard and mouse, YellowDog Linux open, amazing load times on movies, 1080p resolution, up-scales DVD's and up to 7 controllers at one time.

The PS3 from reviews and critics alike is being regarded as the BEST Blu-Ray player. I personaly own a 60GB PS3 and watch Blu-Ray on it all the time. It is also worth the great price. All that stuff for 500 or 600 dollars.....fantastic.

    Get a PS3.

  3. Panasonic is a good one. But if you really want something nice i got this one.

http://us.lge.com/products/model/detail/... its amazing it plays blu ray and hddvd.

  4. As you can see most people like the PS3 and I don't disagree. It is an A/V integration machine.

However if you don't want to use the darned Sony PS3 remote and want to integrate with a universal, or if you want one that looks right in an A/V stack and is 1.1 compliant, and by all accounts sounds better (only if you have a dedicated surround system other that a theater in a box) then go for the Panasonic DMP-BD30K at $499

Otherwise the PS3 is a bargain for what it does.

  5. PS3 for sure. 1) because it has a lot more than other bluray player like a better processor and more RAM.

    2) If a new bluray feature comes then its a simple download on the ps3whereas a complicated one on most other bluray players.

    3) tons of features like media server (wirelessly playes music/photos/videos form windows media player on your PC), free video downloads, HOME is soon to come out, an internet browser, and of course the ability to play the best games. Spend the exra $50-100 and get a far better and more reliable system

  6. The PS3 is largely considered the best blu-ray player on the market.

Part of the reason is that it has the most powerful processor and the most RAM of any of the players, since it was designed to also play games.

The PS3 is also the easiest player to upgrade since you only need to connect to the Playstation Network, which is free.  If there's an update, the PS3 will download it automatically.

There have already been some updates for the PS3's blu-ray player, and other features have been added as well, such as support for addition media files like DIVX.

If you really just want a Blu-Ray player, just get the 40GB PS3.  It's the cheapest, and the differences between the 40GB and 80GB PS3 won't matter to you.  (even if you end up wanting a larger hard drive, you can replace it on your own for less than what Sony charges for PS3s with larger drives.)

  7. Well, I, as well as many others, still regard the ps3 as the best blu-ray player (and sometimes the cheaper one). THe ps3 can do everything a standalone player can do. The biggest benefit of the ps3 as a blu-ray player, is that it has a much more powerful processor and a LOT more memory. This will result in MUCH faster load times, menu browsing, chapter skipping and so on. Plus on top of that, you get the added benefit of a gaming system/multimedia center.
