What is a good book by a Canadian author?

Question

I have to read a book for my grade 12 university English class that is by a Canadian author.

Length does not bother me, but as long as it is good.

There are many great Canadian authors, but I only named a few. I think all of these would be good novels to study and there are a few of them in the curriculum at my school. Don't pay any attention to the ratings some of the books got because everyone has a different opinion. I hope this helps.
