  2. I work for the state government in forestry, in my local state.  And, for our residents, we provide identification books to the public.  They're usually very affordable and very easy to use.  For a more in-depth search, there are books in which you "key" out various species.  The "keying" process is somewhat like a tournament bracket, and it really helps out people who are just beginning to identify tree and plant species.  As for any of these books, I would look up the phone number or website for your local Forestry Commission, which is a state government branch.  If your state does not have a Forestry Commission in each county, I would then look up the phone number for the local extension office of the county.

    Good luck.

  3. go to your local library they have good books on gardening.
