  2. Try these:

    * "The Barn" and "The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle" by Avi

    * "Cheaper By the Dozen" and "Belles On Their Toes" by Frank B. Gilbreth, Jr., and Ernestine Gilbreth Carey

  3. If you don't like fantasy, but do like mysteries and the like, you could  try the Sherlock Holmes stories by Arthur Conan Doyle. Also if you don't mind non-fiction, but are into monsters and people, another one you could try is "The Dinosaur Hunters" by Deborah Cadbury, about the two rival scientists who founded the study of dinosaurs. It's received very good reviews, and I really liked it.

Also "Bridge to Terabithia" was one you might like if you liked Stargirl, although it is very sad.

  4. Well, my sister used to LOVE Nancy Drew and Trixie Belden books.  They're oldies but goodies, especially if you enjoy mystery.

When I was your age I read a lot of R.L. Stine and Christopher Pike books, both write horror (although some of Pike's are a bit fantasy).

Also, Ann Rule is a true crime writer, she's one of my favorite authors.  They definitely have a bit of mystery and horror in them.  They're written for adults, but I was about your age when I started reading them.  A lot of her books are compilations of shorter stories if you don't have the attention span to read a huge long book.

  5. well for 12 years old the best book i would say is harry potter .yes i have seen your post which has u don't like fantasies but once u read u will come to know that they are not just fantasy work .they have depicted our political and also real life dings except for the main theme of wizarding world.and if u r a boy hardy boys collection and pierre cardin novels collections will also be nice books with mysteries

  6. sammy, you know i dont read much. but you could try the twilight books. but they are thick.

  7. Wait 'till Helen Comes
