My husband is coming home from Iraq in the next month a half and I am so excited. I have never tried any kind of Champagne and neither has my husband. What is a good bottle of Champagne that I could buy and that we would both like. I want something fruity and not something that is going to be over powered by alcohol. I want for my husbands homecoming to be special. Besides the Champagne what else can I do to make my husbands first night at home super special? I will really appreaciate all of your answers GOD BLESS...

  1. Just get a bottle of Asti Spumante, it's about 12 dollars and it's very tasty and sweet.  I always have it for special occasions because it's good and affordable.  Technically it is "sparkling wine" but the only difference between sparkling wine and Champagne is that Champagne comes from France and sparkling wine is from anywhere else.  have fun!

  2. God bless as well, and so happy for you! You can try Cook's. I dunno if you really can call it fruity, but it's around $5 and I like it. But then, expensive stuff tends to taste nasty to me, and I tasted expensive stuff at wine tasting that's held once in awhile in my area for free.

As for making it special, get your hair and nails done, and wear a really special dress. If you cannot afford to go out, then pick some food, put a blanket on the floor, and candle lights, and have a picnic in the livingroom, or have dinner in bed or something.

  3. I would suggest "Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut" or as my wife say "Vee Champagne". I find it at the grocery store for $45 or at Costco or Target for about $35. The good thing about it is you should not get a headace like the supper sweet Asti Spumante.

It is a very nice dry, not sweet Champagne that can be paired with fruit or cheese with a clean finish. I would suggest buying some nice strawberries, the Champagne and a bear skin rug with you in something pretty.

  4. Moscato d'asti. Italian sparkling wine. You'll love it. You don't need to spend a lot of money to enjoy it... Good luck!

Oh! And be careful opening the bottle! Point it away from both of you... Keep pressure on the cork (e.g. cover with a kitchen towel) and twist the bottle gently.

Or if you really want the "pop" just be careful!

  5. Get your hair done.  Maybe a cute red dress.  Bolinger or Dom Perigon are good.  Good luck to you.
