I have a bushmaster M4 with a 20 inch barrel, and I want to buy a scope for it. The part where the iron sites are located, is changeable and is not welded to the body. I am looking for something for the 100 - 300 yard range. What is a good brand/model that will not cost me a fortune?

  1. cabelas has the pine ridge scopes, they work decent, and the price is good, m-4 with a 20'' , how about a m-4 with a 16'' barrel, know your weapon system

  2. You did not specify a budget, so it is harder to give you a recommendation.

One of the best bargains in decent scopes right now is the Nikon Team Primos 3-9x40.  They are around $200 and have Monarch quality glass with a Bullet Drop Compensating reticle.

A basic Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 is going to be around $150, a Simmons Pro Hunter 3-9x40 is around $100, a Bushnell Banner Dusk & Dawn 3-9x40 is about $75 and a Simmons 8 Point 3-9x40 or 3-9x50 is $30-$40.

The 8 Point performs as well or better than many other scopes in the $50-$80 range.

These are the scopes at these price points which I can confidently recommend for 200-300 yards.  The cheaper the scope, the less clarity at 300 yards that you will get.
