I use Giro most of the season. When it gets warm I switch to an Ovo helmet that is uninsulated.

R.E.D., Boeri, and Giro are all very good helmets for recreational skiing. Bell still makes some excellent helmets for ski racers. (Last I looked, anyway.)

What is most important is the fit. If you try a Giro and it doesn't quite fit the right way, and the Boeri helmet does...buy the Boeri.

I can't tell you how many people I see wearing the incorrect size helmet. Some are too big, some are too small, some are riding way back on the head giving no frontal protection...all sorts of stuff. If it doesn't fit well it won't do what is supposed to do.

Go to the ski shop and get measured and fit properly by someone who knows how to fit you the right way.

Giro is by far the best helmet brand. They come in different colors and styles and they have vents as well. They are very good quality and they are not extremely expensive. GO GIRO!

All of them offer about the same amount of protection, so it pretty much depends on the style you want.  It's also a good idea to buy a helmet and goggles from the same manufacturer because they will work better if they are both the same brand.  I use a smith helmet and smith goggles.
