  1. How old are the children? If they are fairly young, I would get an older dog from a shelter that is proven with children, or even an older dog from a breeder that has lived with children until they get a bit older, then perhaps introduce a second dog when they are in their early teens, so they can help you out with the maintenence of a puppy, if you have young kids then you probably dont have time for a puppy.

Also, cuteness shouldnt have anything to do with it. You need to find a breed of dog, or a mix that fits into your lifestyle and one that you can cater to its needs.

  2. Get a Jackadoodle! (cross between poodle and jack russell) They tick all the right boxes and they are a cross breed so they don't cost much.

    hope this helps.

  4. lhasa-apso's!!! As a puppy they are adorable!!! I have one, Kye, hes just turned 6 and is still the cutest thing ever =) They don't shed hair, which is a huge bonus! My aunt has a cat, but there has never been any problems with it, except maybe with the cat, shes not too keen on dogs. All Kye wants to do is play. The youngest in my family is 14, but we've had him around babies and hes no harm at all, hes a wee suck-up really. I think we payed around £500 for him. So worth it =D

  5. Labradors are great with families, but if you want something smaller consider  a Tenterfield Terrier or king charles.  Also consider the time you have to spend with the puppy and how long it will be left alone.  If you don't have enough time for a puppy consider going to your local animal rescue and check out the dogs there, that way you can ensure that the dog will love your children first.  In Australia expect to pay $500 to $1,000 for a purebred puppy.

  6. labrador

I have a black labrador and i have had her since she was a puppy. Puppys are VERY playful and so are labrador puppies and sometimes puppies acidently hurt you by playing (just letting you know)

I also have a cat and (how weird is this) at first my dog was a bit scared of my cat! But my cat used to be quite mean when he was a kitten but my cat and dog after about a week started to really get on and now they sleep with each other even though they have seperate beds! Also when the cat was getting used to the dog, my cat used to scratch the dog and the dog didnt even growl or hurt the cat and thats how great labradors are! Oh and labradors are SOOOO great with children. I have a 14 year old a 9 year old and a 4 year old and its gets on great with all of them.

And lastly labs arent very expensive because they are very popular because they are soo great!
