  1. Every year I take my mother to Ameristar casino in saint Charles for the champagne brunch, We have mimosas, and good food. Old St. Charles has great shops and atmosphere.

  2. Merriwether's in the History Museum in Forest Park has a very lovely brunch.  And you could look around the museum too.  Most of it is free, and there's a nice gift shop too.

Depending on where you live, you might go someplace in Kimmswick or Old St. Charles too.  If the Blue Owl is open, it's very nice but it will be packed.

  3. The Mothers Day Brunch at Pere Marquette Lodge / State Park in Grafton,IL is amazing.   It's on the Illinois River in a beautiful log lodge on the Great River Road.  Just take 94 north out of St. Charles to the Grafton ferry road and take the ferry across the Mississippi to Grafton and go north on Rt. 100 five miles to the state park.  About a 25 mile drive from I-70 in St. Charles.  Then you could go to one of the winerys in Grafton and go antique hunting.

  4. I agree with 'daeve' - the History Museum has an insanely fabulous brunch.  BUT...on Mother's day, I can guarantee it's going to be more crowded than any other Sunday!

Get yourself a bottle of champagne, a bottle of (good) orange juice & make a quiche or something...then sit out on your back porch & talk/laugh/reminisce over Mimosas with your mother!

She'll appreciate it more than being taken out to a restaurant...or at least my mother would!

  5. Check the newspapers to see who will be having mothers day brunches.

  6. It really depends on your mom. If she's older, she would probably like the Ameristar brunch, or the 2Nice Guys on Manchester road, or on Telegraph in south county(my personal fav for any age). If she's in her 30's,40's,50's she might like something alittle different, so check out Van Goghz in south city, the brunch at the Art Museum, or History museum. You have tons to choose from, but they are popular and very crowded on Mothers Day. How bout sending her to a day Spa on Saturday instead?

  7. How about Patrick's at Westport, Duff's in CWE---

see also the link I found below for some other suggestions

  8. Casa Gallardo was always our families favorite on Mother's Day.  But also Mongolian BBQ at Olive and 141 is a wonderful place.  Also Reye's International Buffet on Dorsett is great.  HUGE selection!

  9. You should make a meal at home for her, she'd love it! Plus you won't be in crowded place with everyone else and their mama. You'll spend more eating out than you would if you made a nice meal at home. At some of those places, you are lookin at nearly $20 a person!!
