  1. There are several "main" train stations and it would help if you stated which one you will be in.

Trains from London normally go to Gare du Nord but trains usually leave for Rome from Gare de Lyon or Gare Bercy so I'm not sure where you will be.

  2. There are several main stations in Paris. When you come from London you arrive at the Gare du Nord.

Trains for Italy leave from the Gare de Lyon.

So you'd be better off (depending on how much time you have) making your way to Gare de Lyon and finding a cafe near there.

There are plenty of cafes near both the stations. You only have to cross the street and take your pick.

  3. There are loads of cafés in and around Gare du Nord.  I usually just sit in the one in the station on first floor by the Eurostar check in.  I think it is just called "Food and Wine Bar".  Terminus Nord is very nice.  It is across the street from Gare du Nord.   http://www.terminusnord.com/en/

I wouldn't eat at any of the cafés in station on the ground floor, the beggars sometimes hassle you there.
