What is a good car for a 18 year old?

Im turning 18 in a few days. My mother is thinking about buying me a car. It cant be an American car because they're the worst. it has to be around 15,000 or less and 8 years old or less. Im thinking about a used Infiniti, or a nissan maxima. I want a Japanese or German car. Which ones would you recommend?

I don't look at websites, as I have dial up ISP, and it woud take rest of week to get them all on screen!  I have taught wife, 3 daughters and 5 of my 13 grandkids how to drive!  The best car is old, heavy and underpowered! Don't worry about gas mileage too much, - chances you will ruin or wreck it in short order! This car will keep you alive till you develop a sense of danger motor vehicles present!... You will find that it is a whole lot cheaper to replace 2-3 $2000 (sleds) than one nice (little) economy car,- (or 2-3 of them!)

And about the American car being the worst, have you ever seen a FIAT,- (Fix it again Tony)!!   personally I drive the "boats" that everybody is scared of because of gas mileage!  I get them abut 5 years old and put around 1-200K on them.  Have any idea how much gas you can buy with the difference betweena new "economy car" and an old "queen mary" replica car??   Would you believe how far that 20 to 30 thousand bucks worth of gas can take you at 18-20mpg??

I'm talking Cadillacs, Chryslers, Impalas , Electras, Crown Victoria etc!

mitsubishi eclipse and lancer(new)- of your choices i would go for the TL or the g35 both really nice cars-your really lucky man

Honda ( Acura ) has to me always been the most reliable car.  I personally think the lower the miles is the better because it has less wear and tear.  A very good car for a young driver.   Check out this Acura
