What is a good carpet cleaner to remove stains that have been there for a long period of time?

I use Awesome on everything.  I put it in my carpet cleaner and it works well on my carpet.  You can get it at Walmart and at the Dollar tree.  I also use it on clothes.

There is a special detergent for stains on carpets,it is very expense, but it guarantee you that old stains will disappear ,

This isn't a "real" carpet chemical, but "Formula 409" works pretty good for cleaning dirty carpets.

If you're using a wet shampoo machine first get the carpet wet with plain water, spray the 409 on the area, scrub it, and finally rinse with the machine.

If you have a wet/dry vac, that can be used as a make-shift carpet cleaner.
