What is a good charity for animals that I could donate my time to?

I want to spend time with animals that need some human contact and I can share my love with. I live in downtown Chicago and I am looking for something that is in the downtown area or just slightly north of downtown. It's my turn to give back to the world.

Just look up your local ASPCA, they're always looking volunteers.

Anyway, there are places where abandoned critters end up; they could use puppy-hugs and kitty-head-scritches.

But I hope it doesn't break your heart to do this.

You're in luck.  Take LaSalle Street north to Grand; at the corner you'll find a non-profit animal shelter (dogs and cats) that's operated by volunteers.
