What is a good cheap grill to use for beer can chicken?

I'm trying to find a cheap charcoal grill to make beer can chicken so that I can keep the chicken upright on the can without it tipping over when the top of the grill is closed. I have a stand to put the can in but I need to make sure that the grill I buy will seal tightly when closed over the chicken. Any suggestions?

  1. Those little Weber Smokey Joe's are not tall enough for for beer butt chicken.

It will work better in a Brinkmann Gourmet Charcoal Smoker.

Leave out the water pan so the beer will get hot enough to boil.

I hope the like link works. If not just google the cooker name.

They vary from 50 bucks to over 100 bucks.

    Happy BBQ

  2. There are cheaper grills available for sure, but you should seriously consider the Cobb Premium Portable Grill. Even though it's more expensive than many others, it uses much less charcoal, especially for roasting dishes like beer can chicken. You can literally cook 2 to 3 hours on just 8-10 charcoal briquettes. That means you could easily save your entire investment back over just a couple of seasons by what you WON'T spend on charcoal.

The Cobb is made of aluminum and stainless steel, so it's very durable and cleans up easily. In fact, you can toss the entire grill in the dishwasher. The stainless steel mesh base stays cool during cooking, so you can set it on any tabletop, and even move it around while you're cooking.

There's a lot more I could say, but you can find out lots more at the site below:

There are cheaper grills, but the Cobb is worth every penny you spend on it.

you can get much information in this website, If you will check anyone blue link in website.

  4. As a veteran of BBQ, I would never recommend a char-broil, brinkmann, or several of the nationally available charcoal grills, unless the grill is a weber. I've used a Weber kettle for 5 years, with little show of wear and tear. My reccomendation would be a weber one touch silver, gold, or weber performer.

  5. Get one of those round WEBER grills that cost around $30.00- you can find them at the supermarket too. It is a fairly cheap grill for what you have in mind.

  6. i have a Weber type kettle grill, made by Charbroil. It works well, but it is already starting to wear after five years.
