The Saimaza coffee company was created in 1908 in Seville, by the Sainz de la Maza family, which was sole owner until 1985 when General Foods acquired a participating interest. In the same year, GF was bought by Philip Morris. Following this, Philip Morris also acquired Kraft and, in 1990, Jacobs Suchard. These mergers, along with a number of smaller acquisitions, has brought the Philip Morris group to the fore as the global leader in terms of roast and ground coffee sales.

Saimaza has a web site.  Can`t remember if the English translation is good or bad, I read it in Spanish.  But I found it and it translates itself.  You can read up on the history of Coffee in Spain.

I did a bit of research, because I wanted to get some REAL Spanish coffee...it´s called Torrefacto.  You can´t just buy the regular coffee.  If you want the real thing, it has to be the torrefacto (and don´t confuse it with Italian Torrefatto, which just means roasted).  Torrefacto includes about 20% of the beans roasted in sugar.  That´s what makes it taste the way it does.  Unfortunately, it´s a tad bit pricey to buy here.  But it is available.  Through a couple of online stores:

These two seem most user friendly.  About the same price per 1-2 kilo (approx. 1 lb).

Saimaza but I don't drink coffee.  I like milk and juices instead.
