I'm a senior graduating in june and i have decent grades. I'm looking to study international relations or global studies for a major.I don't want the school to be full of over achievers, but i'm looking for a school with people who are intellectual and intelligent. I'd like to have go to a school that offers a pretty decent college experience, with moderate partying and good classes. What schools do you think would fit this criteria?

  1. well there are many schools that offer that. i would say go to a school in general with a lot of diversity in a city. NYC... and has global relations as a major. or concentration within the political science criteria. employers do not judge you by what school you went to.

they judge you by your WORK EXPERIENCE while in college, internships, and considerably gpa. you need to be surrounded by diverse people so you can learn how to communicate properly with them. and every school parties. you choose the amount you want to party. even harvard parties and they are a bunch of overachievers.

  2. I couldn't really tell you -- because I don't pay much attention to colleges that people don't respect.

I suggest that you choose a university that will be good for you in the long run, rather than one that will be fun for four years, but won't get you a job (since employers actually like those over-achievers).

  3. As usual, I tend to agree with Ranto, but to be specific, why not take a look at George Washington University in D.C. It is walking distance from the world center of international relations - the US Congress and the White House. Lots of opportunities for internships and work study jobs involved with international topics.

When you get out of school you will be competing for all the interesting jobs with those overachievers. What are you going to have to show for your four years, a diary of the parties you went to? You know that you will need a lot more if you are going to get a great job.

  4. Georgetown in Washington D.C. is known for its international relations program. It is very selective so the school probably is full of over-achievers.
