  1. Boot camp is going to mess any schedule he sets up for himself, so his best bet would be to do the following: go to bed at 2200 (10 oclock) and wake up at 0600. That's the basic for sleep. If not every night then every other night he will have a watch, which will be 4 hours long, from 2330 (1130) to 0330. So those nights he will miss out on sleep, and no, he can't take a nap during the day. If he is in good shape physically he will have no problem doing push ups and sit ups. Make sure he understands that boot camp is nothing like the actual navy, no one will ever wake him up at 6 in the morning and yell at him to do some push ups.

  2. Don't worry about the waking up early part, though he may want to get used to functioning on little sleep. Make sure you can run and swim a mile and a half and do lots of sit ups and push ups. Navy bootcamp is easy.

  3. Have his recruiter give him a daily plan for physical training and eating, etc.  He'll have that information and more.

  4. navy bootcamp isnt that big of a deal

i say wake up earlier like 0500 then go run, do pushups, situps, pullups, all those exirces also he should go to sleep around 2200 and go to sleep, wake up at like 0100 and stay up for an hour for fire watch.

eat really fast and learn how to take craps pee shower etc.real fast

thats really about it he should be able to swim
