Depends on what you personally want to accomplish.  If you're going into MMA cage fighting/competitions you'll need a diet that can keep you close to what ever weight class you feel strongest at and this way you won't have to worry about cutting weight to make weight come weigh-in time.  If you're just out for some pureist art form then what ever you feel like basically, unless it's "Judo" because in judo the heavier you are the better the results come competition time.  If you're looking to bulk up plenty of protein based foods like red meats, cashews and beans mixed with rice as much as possible.  Also keep in mind that bulking means you need to eat every night before you go to bed as well so that your body will add some layer of fat around your muscles eating often helps with the high amount of reps you'll need during weight training.  If you're going into something like say "Karate" or "Kickboxing" stick with fish, chicken and tons of veggies in your daily diet.  To keep the fat off and to prevent too much bulking up since you'll be looking more for speed taking Karate or Kickboxing or any art that leans heavily on atemiwaza ( Striking ).  I wish I could have been more specific here, but you failed to name the art form you were intersted in.

  3. There is no special "martial arts diet". There is of course healthy eating habits. Eat lots of leafy green and colorful vegetables to help build and repair strong bones and provide vitamins and minerals in a form the body can use them. Eat about 4 0z of protein a day and round out the rest of the approximately 2000 cal a day with complex carbohydrates and fruit. That will insure you get fiber and everything you need to stay fit. If you are training particularly heavy you can run up the complex carbs a bit and add protein drink. Most people won't need it. Learn to listen to your body.  If you are running out of energy and you are training properly adjust your carbohydrate intake. Stay away from soft drinks. Keep alcohol in meager supply.

    The term Martial Arts is the same as saying "Sports"

    In turn, some believe chess is a sport, which a diet for that would not be the same as that of a boxer.

    So to loosely answer your question, eat foods that contain high protein and low amounts of fat, while mixing in whole grain carbs. The key is to work out regularly though. If you want to post a more specific question later please do and I'm sure you will get much better answers.
