Is there a big difference between 7 and 8 megapixels? What does that even mean?

  2. Try a refurbished camera from B&H online.  They have a very advance and capable reliable used camera section that you can get a 300 and 400$ camera for the price of 100$.

    as for megapixels, the difference in 1-4 megapixles is negligible compared to the quality of the camera.  Best advice is to look for a name brand company like canon or nikon.  what a megapixle is, is one million light sensitive charged coupled devices (CCD)  This is your digital film inside your camera.  Per million pixles that your camera takes and reads and creates an image, you have a megapixle.  So if you have a 7 Megapixle camera, your Jpegs, will roughly have 7 million pixels in the image, this is what we also call resolution in the image.
