What is a good digital video camera that will send files into iMovie?

Running a mac, and never had the ability to edit video, and need help getting the equipment i need. Looking for value since i have a tight budget. From what I understand a camera will come with required cables (Camera to Computer through USB2.0).

Any MiniDV camcorder and a 4 - 6 pin firewire cable would be compatible with iMovie. iMovie won't recognize a USB connection.

You will need to use firewire, i.Link, IEEE 1394 to connect your video camcorder to your mac.

You use USB to connect digital still photo cameras to a mac.  The photos as well as the videos usually end up in iPhoto, but you can always export or manually copy the videos to iMovie
