What is a good dish to get that can been seen at most Sushi restaurants? I like pretty much everything...?

Every sushi restaurant in the country will have California rolls (no raw fish, so if you've got a date it's a good choice) and Maguro (raw tuna) rolls (sometimes called Tekka Maki).  Tekka Maki is very plain as it's only seaweed, rice and some tuna in the center.  Very plain in it's taste and raw tuna has some texture to it, so it's not slimy or squishy.  Very good and popular.

A spicy tuna roll is also very popular.  It is a nice blend of tuna and spices.  Its spicy, but nothing even approaching mexican food or something like General Tso's Chicken in Chinese restaurants.

Rainbow sushi!!!! I don't like that many types of sushi but rainbow rolls are the greatest!  They have crab, avocado and some type of vegetable.

The absolutely best thing at a sushi restraunt is the Unagi. Unagi is Eel either served fresh water or salt water.  It is cooked not raw and usually served with a sweet teryaki sauce. You can find it in the roll section (I usually get the rolls)of the menu as well as the sushi section.

Another favorite that you cannot go wrong with is the Spicy Tuna Roll or philidelphia roll.

You can find any of these at all sushi places.

Squid is my fav its pure white, alitte tough but sweeter (Ika). my husbands fav is egg, its a rectangle and very sweet. (tamago)
